Joel McHale, who played Mark Evans in the film, revealed that his role was a last-minute switch, involving a dramatic swap that left industry watchers scratching their heads.
McHale recounted the experience, sharing a hilarious and slightly panicked account of how he found out about the change. He noted that Patrick Dempsey, who played Sidney’s husband in Scream 3, was originally slated for the role in Scream 7. McHale insisted that when he was brought in, Dempsey’s nameplate was literally sitting on his chair, highlighting how quickly things shifted behind the scenes.
