A Rocket Ride to Adventure: Illumination Unveils Next Feature “Not Alone“
Get ready for an interstellar jaunt, because Universal Pictures and Illumination have just dropped the teaser trailer for their upcoming feature film, Not Alone. The next cinematic adventure is set to debut in cinemas next April, promising a blend of whimsical comedy and high-stakes cosmic escapades.
At the heart of this new story are two mismatched dreamers. Timothee Chalamet takes on the role of Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic who prefers a quiet existence alone. He finds his solitude beautifully disrupted when he teams up with Gomez, a brilliant astro-botanist who is working on something truly monumental: the world’s first plant-fueled rocket.
While their professional collaboration ignites immediate sparks, romance remains elusive. Their focus shifts dramatically when life becomes unexpectedly complicated, introducing three tiny, unruly, and utterly adorable alien hitchhikers into Joe’s quiet home. These newcomers—Dunk, Welly, and Shirm—are currently on a desperate interplanetary run for safety.
Their unlikely mission pivots entirely when the aliens realize that Fran’s revolutionary rocket is their only hope for returning home. With newfound urgency, the pair must navigate the perilous journey while attempting to evade a zealous and admittedly inept officer of the law named Zandro.
The film is packed with comedic talent, bringing together a stellar ensemble cast for this cosmic romp. The voice cast features comedic heavyweights Rob Brydon (known for The Trip), Diane Morgan (who brings her wit to Cunk On), and Jamie Demetriou (of The Roses) to bring the alien trio to life. Completing the cast are Ted Lasso alum Brett Goldstein as Officer Zandro, alongside established stars Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.
The vision for this adventure is guided by a talented directorial team, including Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson, and Jonathan Del Val. Not Alone promises a wonderfully chaotic journey that celebrates the unexpected bonds formed when facing the unknown together.
Not Alone is scheduled to open in cinemas on April 16th, 2027.
