Rockstar Games has set a new, and decidedly pricey, benchmark for collector’s merchandise, announcing a $400 box for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI. But this isn’t just any collection; it’s less about gameplay and more about living the high-stakes, slightly tacky lifestyle of Vice City.

Titled The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection, this exclusive merchandise box intentionally omits a copy of the game itself, opting instead to deliver a sprawling set of unique memorabilia inspired by the in-universe Macca the Gator television series.

For the hefty $400 price tag, fans are treated to eleven distinct pieces of gear, accessories, and décor. Imagine unwrapping a collection that includes sunglasses, a crossbody bag, a figure, a hat, a mirror, a shot glass, a spoon, a keychain, enamel pins, stickers, and a full poster—all carefully themed around the Vice City aesthetic.

The contents are a wonderfully eclectic mix of nostalgic nods and physical items. Collectors will find items such as the GTA VI Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure complete with a stash compartment, and a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback hat.

Beyond the apparel and figures, the collection features various unique trinkets that really capture the vibe, including the Macca the Gator magnetic mirror, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, a Vice City swizzle spoon, a razor blade keychain, and a set of nine Leonida Keys enamel pins.

The sheer volume and quality of the items make this the most expensive Rockstar collector’s edition ever released. This move has quickly sparked a lively reaction across social media, with many fans expressing audible dismay over the cost versus the contents.

When compared to previous Rockstar collector’s editions, such as those for Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption II, which cost significantly less at the time, the $400 price point has drawn some comparison. These earlier editions were valued at just $100.

While the items are undeniably unique and tailored to the lore, the immediate response from the fanbase suggests that the focus should be less on the cost and more on the sheer volume of delightful, yet expensive, Vice City paraphernalia.
