Ali G: Who Is I? Trailer
Sacha Baron Cohen Tackles Family Life in New Mockumentary, “Ali G: Who Iz I?”
Comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen is back, and this time he’s diving into the delightful absurdity of domestic life with his latest project, “Ali G: Who Iz I.” The film, which will debut exclusively in cinemas on October 23rd, marks an exciting re-teaming with Amazon MGM Studios, following their successful handling of Cohen’s previous film, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.”
This new venture shifts the tone significantly. While Cohen has previously worked on scripted comedy, this film embraces a mockumentary style reminiscent of hits like “Borat” and “Bruno.” It promises a hilarious, often surreal take on the life of the beloved character Ali G.
The story kicks off with a classic, yet unexpected, domestic bombshell. After twenty years spent “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’,” Ali G is confronted with the reality that his long-term girlfriend, Julie, is eight months pregnant. Suddenly faced with an extra mouth to feed, Ali G finds himself on a collision course with a quest for personal glory.
Driven by this unexpected change, Ali G abandons his usual routine and heads to America in a determined effort to reclaim his former standing. However, this pursuit of newfound glory quickly becomes far more perilous. He soon encounters adversaries who threaten not only his ambitions but the very existence of his child.
The project taps into the legacy of Ali G, drawing a connection to the original 2002 feature film comedy, “Ali G Indahouse,” which featured stars like Martin Freeman and Charles Dance. While the original was a scripted comedy, this new iteration delivers a fresh, mockumentary perspective on the timeless character.
The second trailer for “Ali G: Who Iz I?” has already begun to circulate, offering a glimpse into the chaotic and comedic journey ahead for Ali G and his family. Get ready for a wild ride as Cohen brings his unique comedic sensibility to this brand new cinematic experience.
