Andre Holland joins Miami Vice ’85 cast
The neon glow of mid-1980s Miami is about to blaze brighter than ever, as the iconic aesthetic of “Miami Vice” gets a dazzling, modern reboot. André Holland, known for his work in “Moonlight” and “The Knick,” has joined the cast of Joseph Kosinski’s new cinematic venture, “Miami Vice ’85,” set to be released at Universal Pictures.
This high-octane drama promises to explore the intense glamour and underlying corruption of the era through the eyes of two undercover detectives navigating the dazzling, yet morally gray, landscape of 1985 Miami.
The project draws upon the legacy of the landmark television series that defined a cultural moment, known for its masterful production by Michael Mann. The film taps into the rich, influential landscape established by the original television masterpiece.
The ensemble cast is already stacked with recognizable talent, blending established stars with rising faces. Michael B. Jordan steps into the role of Ricardo Tubbs, while Austin Butler takes on the role of James ‘Sonny’ Crockett. Adding depth to the narrative is André Holland, whose character’s specifics remain under wraps, promising a compelling presence on screen.
Holland joins a roster of intriguing actors, including John Leguizamo, Walton Goggins, Alden Ehrenreich, Edi Gathegi, Danny Ramirez, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, and Andrew Schulz, ensuring a truly dynamic and memorable portrayal of the era.
The creative vision for the film is helmed by Joseph Kosinski, who is directing the project. Kosinski plans to begin production in November, with filming slated to take place across the iconic locales of New York and Miami. To capture the cinematic scope of the story, the production will be shot in IMAX format.
Fans will get their dose of cinematic spectacle, as the film is scheduled to open in cinemas on May 19th, 2028. It’s a potent blend of nostalgic style and intense drama, poised to deliver a vibrant and unforgettable look back at the age of excess.
