Anne Hathaway isn’t on Hot Ones despite 5 movies here’s why

When you think about balancing a demanding film schedule, a budding pregnancy, and the pressures of celebrity promotion, it sounds like a recipe for chaos. For actress Anne Hathaway, the balancing act has involved blockbuster movies, a highly anticipated project, and a very spicy media challenge.

Hathaway is currently navigating an exciting slate, with five major films lined up for release across 2026. At the center of this exciting lineup is her latest feature, Verity, a thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. The film stars Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh and Josh Hartnett as Verity’s husband, Jeremy.

The promotional campaign for Verity has certainly aimed high, and Hathaway envisioned making the experience extra memorable. She aimed to position her character, Verity Crawford, as an important cultural figure, suggesting high-profile interviews, including appearances on shows like Hot Ones and with Gayle King.

But the plans for a real-life media challenge hit an unexpected roadblock. Just as Hathaway was preparing for the Hot Ones gauntlet, she unexpectedly discovered she was pregnant with her husband Adam Shulman in June. As her journey progressed, her doctor advised against undertaking the challenge due to the potential risk of early labor, forcing a change in plans.

Despite the medical advice, the desire to complete the experience lingered. In a touch of creative flair, Hathaway did manage to film the Hot Ones sequence for Verity herself. She reportedly went through the first three wings in real life before switching to dummy wings to handle the demanding filming schedule.

It turns out, while the physical challenge was put on hold, the creative energy was certainly not. Hathaway still hopes to complete the gauntlet sometime in the future, perhaps next year.

Verity is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026. While the anticipation for the film builds, the focus shifts slightly from the fiery interviews to the unfolding story of Verity, proving that even when life throws unexpected curveballs, the stories—both on screen and off—continue to captivate.
