Bardem’s Dune saga goes beyond Messiah

The cinematic universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune is continuing its epic journey, with director Denis Villeneuve currently immersed in post-production on the highly anticipated Dune: Part Three ahead of its December premiere.

“It’s going to be a masterpiece,” Bardem stated. “Because Denis (Villeneuve) really wants to go farther and farther from the last movie. It’s like what he did with the second movie compared to the first one. Those who have read the book know the ‘Messiah’ book, but it goes beyond that. It’s going to be a feast. It’s going to be something extraordinary.”

This vision suggests Villeneuve is exploring not just the immediate events of the books, but also weaving in elements from other lore, perhaps including themes found in Children of Dune within the narrative structure.

The casting for this ambitious project brings together a stellar ensemble, featuring established talents like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Robert Pattinson, and Anya Taylor-Joy. The story will also introduce new characters—Paul’s children Leto II and Ghanima—who will be portrayed by newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke, appearing as newborn infants in the narrative.
