But the story isn’t over. The franchise is clearly poised for expansion. Director O’Connor has confirmed that development is already underway for a third installment. He envisions the upcoming entry as a lighter, buddy road-trip film, signaling a shift in tone while keeping the established characters central to the adventure. Anna Kendrick is expected to return as Dana Cummings for the third entry. Furthermore, writer Bill Dubuque has confirmed that Amazon MGM remains actively interested in completing the trilogy.
