Brolin starts production on Sicario 3
The wait is finally nearing its end for fans of the gritty border drama, as actor Josh Brolin has confirmed that production on the next installment of the “Sicario” saga is slated to begin soon.
Brolin made the announcement while promoting Ridley Scott’s upcoming “The Dog Stars,” signaling that the world of intense, morally complex crime is set to expand once more. This news comes after Brolin had previously suggested that the third film was finally looking “very, very real” after years of anticipation.
Bringing a sequel to this acclaimed series requires navigating a complex landscape of creative decisions. The first film was masterfully directed by Denis Villeneuve, and the second installment was handled by Stefano Sollima. Locking down a director for the third is a crucial step in ensuring the narrative maintains its raw, uncompromising edge.
While names like Christopher McQuarrie were briefly attached to the project, Brolin confirmed that he is no longer involved in the production process as of 2024, leaving the creative reins to be determined by the new team.
The films are built on a foundation established by the powerful narrative of Taylor Sheridan, who penned the screenplays for the series. Although Sheridan is a key figure in the story’s creation, his current commitments to his extensive television empire leave his direct involvement in the production up for further consideration.
