Centineo clarifies Stallone’s Rambo prequel role

Action movie fans are buzzing with news concerning the cinematic origins of John Rambo. Actor Noah Centineo recently stepped into the spotlight to shed light on the upcoming Rambo prequel, revealing deep plot details and the legendary involvement of Sylvester Stallone.

During a recent appearance, Centineo shared how the project delves into the tumultuous origins of John Rambo, exploring his time as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War. But beyond the historical setting, Centineo offered a profound insight into the film’s emotional core, emphasizing that the narrative is fundamentally driven by understanding Rambo’s pain.

The actor pinpointed a specific moment in the classic film that serves as the creative blueprint for the entire prequel. He highlighted a pivotal scene from First Blood, where Stallone delivers an incredibly raw monologue about feeling unable to hold a job and grappling with his identity as a war machine. Centineo called this scene the film’s “North Star”, guiding the creative team through the development process.

Centineo stressed that the goal of the prequel is to let the audience viscerally experience the trauma Rambo endured before he became the warrior. He wants viewers to connect with the deep emotional cost of Rambo’s journey, recognizing the pain that fueled his transformation.

Guiding this emotional direction is director Jalmari Helander, who brought a distinctive, dark vision to the story. Helander is known for his passion regarding the franchise, possessing a unique understanding of the action landscape.
