Chase Infiniti stars in a Sam Raimi/Jordan Peele horror film

A potent new horror project is brewing, bringing together a captivating star, legendary producers, and a visionary director. Lionsgate has recently unveiled that Chase Infiniti, known for her work in One Battle After Another, will headline the feature film Portrait of God, a project steered by the unique talents of director Dylan Clark and the influential production duo Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele.

The creative synergy behind the film has been immediately lauded by the studio. Adam Fogelson of Lionsgate praised the team, noting that the combination of Dylan Clark’s distinctive perspective, Sam and Jordan Peele’s genre-defining influence, and the involvement of Chase Infiniti created an “exceptional creative team” with all the ingredients necessary for a film that is described as haunting, thought-provoking, and scary as hell.

Portrait of God is set to expand upon Dylan Clark’s previous work, taking the themes from his short film of the same name and deepening them into a full-blown cinematic experience. The short already set a mesmerizing tone, exploring the profound question of “What does God look like?”

The short film uses striking visuals to challenge conventional notions of divinity. It opens with a stark reference to the Old Testament, immediately plunging the viewer into a scene where the protagonist, Mia, is practicing a slide presentation about a work of art dubbed Portrait of God. While some viewers see only absolute blackness, others report witnessing a figure in the darkness, a detail that serves as a potent counterpoint to the idea of a benevolent deity. The short delivers a stark warning: Viewers of the portrait should beware.

Clark has leveraged this momentum to bring his feature vision to life, co-writing the script with Joe Russo, who is known for his work on films like The Inheritance. This collaboration bridges the thematic depth of the short with a grander cinematic scope.

Clark’s directing journey is deeply rooted in the legacy of cinematic terror. He is making his feature directorial debut by revisiting the mythology of The Blair Witch Project. To honor this legacy, Clark has brought together the original stars of the franchise, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams, alongside original filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale, to serve as executive producers. This assembly promises to bring the full legacy of the franchise to a new generation of storytelling.

With the original franchise slated for release in September 2027, the production of Portrait of God promises to be a rich exploration of faith, fear, and the unsettling beauty of the unknown, all under the guidance of a celebrated team.
