Crystal Lake Teaser A New Friday the 13th Prequel

There is something in these woods that knows how to kill.

The chilling premise of a small town turned nightmare has found its next chapter with the arrival of Crystal Lake>, a new horror series set to stream this fall. A24 is bringing this gruesome prequel to the screen, offering fans a deep dive into the doomed environment that spawned one of cinema’s most enduring franchises: Friday the 13th.

Following an extensive history involving over eleven sequels in the infamous Jason Voorhees series, this new project seeks to explore the origins of the legend. The story follows a group of camp counselors who arrive at a secluded location only to face deadly consequences, tracing the dark roots that led to Crystal Lake’s terror.

The production team has done more than just revisit the lore; they have anchored the new narrative in chilling reality. The series was filmed entirely at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in Blairstown, New Jersey—the very same location and town that served as the backdrop for the original 1980 film. This deliberate choice grounds the prequel firmly in the cinematic history of the franchise.

The casting brings a compelling ensemble to the series. Linda Cardellini steps into the leading role as Pamela Voorhees, while Callum Vinson portrays a young Jason Voorhees, setting the stage for new interpretations of these iconic figures. The supporting cast includes William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Phoenix Parnevik, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom, all contributing to the atmosphere of dread.

For the horror season ahead, Peacock will debut the first eight episodes of Crystal Lake> in October. Fans can prepare for a deep exploration of camp trauma and relentless evil as this new series streams during the peak of autumn frights.
