The initial plan for the series faced an unexpected roadblock when Ryan Hurst, who was slated to play Kratos, suffered a significant bicep tear during stunt work on set. Production was immediately halted, leaving the timeline uncertain while the actor focused on recovery—a process that often requires several months for serious injuries.

As filming was put on hold, Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television made the strategic decision to recast the role. This choice was driven by the need for an actor capable of handling the intense physicality required by the character and the constraints of the production schedule.
