DC Duo and Gremlins 3 releases delayed

Movie schedules are always in flux, and this week brought some significant shifts for upcoming animated and sequel projects. Warner Bros. has adjusted the release timelines for two major films, pushing back anticipation for fans of DC lore and the beloved Gremlins franchise.

The highly anticipated Dynamic Duo, the cinematic origin story tracing the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, is getting a little more time to breathe. Instead of hitting theaters on June 30, 2028, fans can now look forward to seeing this animated adventure on September 22, 2028.

But the changes aren’t limited to scheduling; the project itself is shaping up to be visually unique. Dynamic Duo is set to utilize a groundbreaking animation technique called Momo Animation. This unique style blends the tactile quality of stop-motion puppetry with CGI animation and live-action real-time performance, promising a visual experience unlike anything seen before.

The creative engine behind the film will be Swaybox, a new animation studio founded by Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson. Mintz will be steering the vision, working with a script penned by Matthew Aldrich. The story follows the dynamic duo—orphan thieves who share dreams but find their paths diverging as they compete for a future and a new identity.

Adding another layer of excitement are the rumored voice cast members, which have sparked considerable buzz among fans. Whispers suggest that Mason Thames will bring Dick Grayson to life, Logan Kim will voice Jason Todd, and Lee Pace is rumored to be tackling the role of Red Hood One.

Meanwhile, the spooky legacy of the Gremlins series is preparing for a massive return. After more than three and a half decades since the original film, a third installment is finally in development. Directed by Chris Columbus, the sequel is leaning into a classic aesthetic, promising a return to the tactile world of traditional puppets and animatronics, with no CGI Gizmo in sight.

Hannah Marks is handling the script, drawing inspiration from early drafts by Columbus and the creative minds behind Final Destination Bloodlines. While plot details remain under wraps, the promise of a nostalgic, handcrafted adventure is already palpable.
