Following weeks of sold-out showings, IMAX has announced that screenings of the film in the coveted 70mm format have been extended by a full month. This extension ensures that cinephiles can continue their journey through the sprawling narrative at their preferred scale.

Originally scheduled to conclude on August 19th, fresh listings confirm that audiences now have until September 16th to immerse themselves in the film’s spectacle.

This news arrives as The Odyssey has already achieved monumental success at the box office. In just twelve days in theaters, the film has surpassed $700 million worldwide, accumulating $320.5 million domestically and $407.4 million overseas for a total haul of $727.9 million.

The demand for this cinematic experience is palpable, especially given the limited availability of true 70mm IMAX screens. Only about 25 theaters across the United States and 41 globally offer this premium format, which naturally generates both immense excitement and understandable frustration among dedicated moviegoers.

The film’s success positions it squarely in a league of blockbuster hits. Adding to this impressive run, the movie is expected to join the $1 billion club in the coming week, following other major releases like Toy Story 5 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Globally, Nolan’s vision continues to expand. While the film has yet to debut in China, where his fanbase is rapidly growing, anticipation is high for its arrival there. It is expected to debut across nearly 800 IMAX screens and thousands of standard auditoriums once it launches internationally within the next two weeks.
