The beloved, eccentric Stone family is ready for a heartwarming return, as plans are underway for a sequel to the 2005 holiday classic, The Family Stone.

The reunion promises to bring back a stellar cast, with major stars confirmed to reprise their roles. From Rachel McAdams and Claire Danes to Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, and Brian White, many of the original faces of the Stone family will be reunited on screen.

The story, which once explored the delightful chaos of bringing a tightly wound girlfriend home to a liberal, bohemian New England family, now steps into a new chapter twenty years later. The original film captivated audiences with its blend of romantic complications, shifting loyalties, and the poignant revelation that the family’s matriarch, Sybil Stone, was terminally ill.

For the sequel, the Stone family gathers again for the Christmas season, only to encounter an unexpected twist. The narrative shifts focus to the present day, where the family reconnects, and in a charming surprise, the father is invited to bring the woman he has fallen in love with into their circle.

Behind the scenes, the project is helmed by director Tom Bezucha, who returns to direct from his own script. The production is backed by original producer Michael London, alongside Shannon Gaulding, Parker, and Alison Benson, ensuring that the continuation of the Stone saga is handled with both warmth and creative vision.

This sequel promises to be a festive and familiar journey, inviting fans to relive the magic of holiday gatherings while exploring new, touching family dynamics.
