First plot details emerge in Marvel Zodiac series
Marvel has dropped a tantalizing glimpse into its live-action future with the unveiling of Zodiac, a spy thriller set to debut on Disney+ in 2028. While plot details remain guarded, the project is already buzzing with intrigue, thanks to the creative minds brought in to helm the narrative.
The series has been entrusted to the dynamic duo of writers, Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem. This pairing brings a rich, complex background, as both writers have a history of creating and executive-producing multiple successful Israeli television shows, including Trust No One, Bad Boy, 8200, and Red Skies. Adding another layer of pedigree, Ron Leshem is also known as the creator of Euphoria, the acclaimed HBO series based on Sam Levinson’s work.
What does this new series explore? Current reports suggest Zodiac will plunge viewers into the high-stakes world of espionage, following a pair of spies who are relentlessly chasing targets possessing extraordinary, special abilities. It promises a thrilling blend of mystery and action.
The production is already in motion. Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum confirmed that casting for the series will begin in the next couple of weeks, with planned shooting taking place in London during the spring. This hints at an ambitious, international scope for the production.
Interestingly, the branding itself carries a subtle nod to the cinematic universe. Winderbaum teased that fans of the comics will recognize hidden connections, pointing out that the ‘A’ in the Marvel logo subtly hints at a link to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
While Zodiac is the newest entry in Marvel’s live-action slate, it is one of several exciting projects keeping the franchise vibrant. Marvel has recently focused heavily on animated content, ensuring there is plenty of engaging material for fans.
The animated side of Marvel is seeing significant activity. The second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is set to premiere on January 13, 2027, with plans for two more seasons in development. Furthermore, the legacy of the X-Men continues with the upcoming release of the third season of X-Men ’97 in 2027, followed by plans for a fourth season.
Adding to the animated lineup are several high-concept Marvel Zombies specials. Fans can look forward to Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier in Halloween 2027, followed by Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu in Halloween 2028, and then Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian in Halloween 2029.
The live-action future of Marvel remains robust, with Zodiac poised to arrive in 2028, demonstrating that the saga continues to evolve across every medium.
