At the heart of this cinematic vision is the acclaimed Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig, who is bringing Lewis’ beloved story to life with a touch of humor, deep heart, and undeniable wonder. As the trailer plays, the story immediately captures the essence of the Narnian experience: two ordinary children stumble upon a wood full of pools that serve as gateways to other, unimaginable worlds.
The narrative plunges viewers into an extraordinary journey where discovery leads to peril. One of these passages takes the young adventurers to a desolate, dead city beneath a dying sun, where they must make a desperate choice to wake a dangerous queen and bring her back to London. It is a story about ordinary children facing truly extraordinary adventures.
The production casts a stellar ensemble, ensuring that the scope and emotional depth of the tale are perfectly balanced. The cast features a compelling mix of talent, including Meryl Streep as the iconic Aslan, the great lion responsible for creating Narnia. Supporting this epic cast are David McKenna as Digory, Beatrice Campbell as Polly Plummer, Emma Mackey as Jadis, the future White Witch, and Carey Mulligan as Flora Kirke.
The film is anchored by a rich collection of actors, including Ciarán Hinds, Daniel Craig, Denise Gough, and Susan Wokoma, bringing fresh energy to the fantastical roles. This blend of familiar storytelling and dazzling new faces promises an adaptation that is vibrant and exciting, carefully steering clear of any retread of previous Narnia movies.
