Gael Garcia Bernal urges MCU fans to demand a Werewolf By Night sequel

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a vast landscape of superheroes, but for some fans, the most compelling adventures lie just beyond the known boundaries. That frontier, hinted at by the recent Marvel Studios special presentation, is the supernatural corner, and it’s a universe that has tantalized audiences for years.

Central to this intriguing world is Jack Russell, a character brought to life through the television series Werewolf by Night. Star Gael García Bernal, who portrayed Russell, has recently offered some candid thoughts on the potential of this world, sparking a renewed demand for further expansion within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When speaking with fans, Bernal shared a heartfelt plea: “I urge you to do whatever you can, whatever is in your power, to push Marvel into some sense of responsibility and also of ambition.” He framed this request as a desire to see the narrative fulfill its potential, urging the creators to pursue the vision they once held for the story.

Bernal revealed that Marvel Studios once held expansive plans for the Jack Russell side of the universe, recognizing its depth and scope. He described the experience of creating it as a wonderful project, emphasizing that for him, it was merely a taste of what could have been. “We had many plans. I hope they materialize one day!” he expressed, underscoring the weight of the unfulfilled vision.

The original series, Werewolf by Night, introduced fans to a rich cast of characters, including Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, and Man-Thing, setting the stage for future adventures. Despite this established foundation, concrete announcements regarding a direct sequel have remained elusive.

Though the official sequel timeline has been slow, the creative momentum remains strong. Director Michael Giacchino has indicated that plans for a continuation are still in development, even after a considerable amount of time had passed.

The property, which debuted in October 2022, continues to captivate viewers, offering a glimpse into a world rich with mythology. It is currently available to stream on Disney+.
