Gerwig’s Narnia Filming Underway
The magic of Narnia is getting even more polished, as filming ramps up for Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew. Additional photography is currently underway at Shepperton Studios, bringing the imaginative world of Aslan and the Pevensies closer to the screen.
This focused effort kicks off six months after principal photography officially wrapped, focusing on filling in those final details that make the epic feel truly complete. Sources indicate this isn’t about reshoots, but rather crucial additional photography designed to enhance the film’s visual storytelling.
While the creative process continues behind the scenes, the production schedule is reportedly tight. Industry insiders suggest this phase of filming is expected to last no more than two weeks, ensuring a swift and efficient final push toward completion. Importantly, the principal cast members are not expected to participate in these supplementary shoots.
The anticipation for the film’s arrival is palpable, especially given the caliber of talent involved. The story stars an impressive ensemble including Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, Ciarán Hinds, and Carey Mulligan, lending gravitas and wonder to the fantastical narrative.
Marking the timeline for audiences, the cinematic experience is slated for a dual release. Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will hit theaters on February 12th, 2027, before making its way to Netflix streaming platforms on April 2nd, 2027.
This upcoming schedule places the production in a competitive but exciting environment. It is one of two major Netflix features currently receiving additional shooting this month, joining David Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which is under an even tighter deadline for its November release.
Reports suggest that while the film has generated excitement, it hasn’t tested quite as well as Netflix had initially hoped. Some analyses noted that a rough version screened previously was missing significant visual effects, highlighting the ambitious scope of the project and the meticulous work required to bring this world to life.
