Green Room Halloween Re-release with Slayground Popcorn Bucket
Ten years ago, a punk band’s disastrous gig exploded into one of the most visceral and nerve-shredding survival thrillers the decade had to offer. Jeremy Saulnier’s film Green Room is finally celebrating a major milestone, and the celebration is set to be as intense as the movie itself.
To mark the tenth anniversary of Green Room, Alamo Drafthouse is rolling out a special nationwide event. Fans can catch the film during exclusive screenings on October 30, 2026, providing an immersive experience that goes far beyond the screen.
This anniversary celebration is packed with exclusive extras designed to immerse attendees in the film’s gritty Pacific Northwest setting. Celebrations will feature an exclusive interview with director Saulnier, cast members Alia Shawkat and Macon Blair, and special effects artist Mike Fontaine. As a bonus, attendees will receive a free, limited-edition popcorn bucket inspired by Saulnier’s upcoming thriller, Slayground.
Beyond the cinematic experience, the event promises a mouth-watering menu inspired by the film. Guests can indulge in punk-inspired fare, including the Cowcatcher Loaded Mac—a hearty dish featuring Cavatappi pasta, housemade Tillamook cheddar cheese sauce, seasoned ground beef, bacon, and roasted vegetables—alongside the edgy Ain’t Right Pizza, topped with Italian sausage and Alamo’s cheese blend. For a cocktail, the menu includes the Metal Marg, a craft cocktail featuring Campo Bravo Tequila Plata and Midori melon.
Filmmaker Jake Isgar, a film programmer at Alamo Drafthouse, notes that Saulnier possesses a remarkable talent for turning everyday situations into white-knuckle occasions. He emphasizes that the theatre chain is thrilled to use this anniversary to celebrate Green Room with these unique additions.
What does the film explore? Green Room follows a touring punk band whose performance takes a terrifying turn when the musicians witness a murder. Trapped backstage and surrounded by violent neo-Nazi skinheads determined to eliminate the witnesses, the band must fight for their lives as the situation spirals into a brutal siege.
The film features a formidable cast including Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Macon Blair, and Patrick Stewart, with a haunting score provided by Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor. It stands as a powerful example of how visceral tension can be built through cinematic storytelling.
Green Room also sets the stage for Saulnier’s next big venture. The anniversary event serves as a prelude to his upcoming feature, Slayground, scheduled for release on January 29, 2027. This new thriller appears to blend the high-stakes tension of his previous work with a macabre Halloween atmosphere, following a fugitive on the run.
The excitement doesn’t end there. Fans can look forward to further retrospective screenings in early 2027, including features like Blue Ruin and Murder Party, keeping Saulnier’s compelling genre filmmaking front and center on the big screen.
