When the realms of extreme shock rock collide with the glorious chaos of exploitation cinema, something truly legendary is born. Shock-rock titans GWAR and legendary film commentator Joe Bob Briggs have joined forces to unleash GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, a record celebrating over four decades of GWAR mayhem and forty years of Joe Bob Briggs’ masterful domain of horror and trash.

This unique vinyl release, set to hit November 13 via Pit Records, is a spectacular mash-up, fusing GWAR’s theatrical brand of gore with the nostalgic, gloriously trashy aesthetic of the classic drive-in horror era. The project brings together GWAR, the essence of The Last Drive-In, and the musical talents of John Brennan and the Bigfeet, who serve as the show’s house band.

The album is not just music; it is a collision of worlds that understand one fundamental truth: the appeal of outrageous humor, cinematic horror, and entertainment that refuses to behave itself. Side A of the record features GWAR’s live performance from The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special, mixing original GWAR anthems with covers of songs steeped in Joe Bob’s legendary show. Side B showcases John Brennan and the Bigfeet performing tracks written specifically for the final two seasons of the drive-in series, extending the musical legacy of the horror saga.

The excitement surrounding the collaboration is palpable. GWAR frontman Blöthar summed up the partnership perfectly, declaring it a match made in hell. “Lordy Lordy, look who’s 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. I love horror movies, trash, and funny spooky stuff. GWAR wouldn’t exist without it,” he stated, reflecting the shared appreciation for the wonderfully strange culture they both champion.

Joe Bob Briggs was equally enthusiastic about the intergalactic warriors joining the cinematic mayhem. He explained how he recruited the band, calling up the intergalactic warriors who reside in Antarctica to bring “fear, some filth, and some fun”—the Scumdogs of the Universe, GWAR, of course.

Beyond the album, the creative energy continues to flow. John Brennan has contributed a new single, “Splatter-Fu,” written specifically for GWAR. Fans can stream the official music video now, adding another layer to the spectacle. The track itself is a perfect distillation of the chaotic energy at the heart of the collaboration.

Meanwhile, the legacy of drive-in cinema continues to thrive through Joe Bob’s other endeavors. He is preparing to release an audiobook edition of Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In, bringing his unfiltered columns and legendary replies to a new audience. He is also diving back into the world of MonsterVision with a new comic book series featuring himself and Darcy the Mail Girl on a monster-hunting adventure, scheduled for release on December 23.

With the album GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein and the new single Splatter-Fu out now, and the Gor Gor Must Die! tour gearing up for October 27, fans of both GWAR and The Last Drive-In have a truly bizarre and unforgettable legacy to celebrate.
