The world of DC entertainment is getting a fascinating new spin. HBO Max has officially greenlit an eight-episode order for a mockumentary series titled The People v. Gorilla Grodd, promising an inside look at the darker side of Metropolis justice, rooted in the world of Superman.
This project expands on the legacy of the recent Superman film, pivoting from grand superheroics to a gritty, true-crime investigation. It’s a shift that promises to be as compelling as it is comedic, blending the mythic with the deeply human.
At the heart of the story is a superintelligent ape named Gorilla Grodd. The premise is instantly gripping: Grodd has been convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. But what if that conviction is flawed? The series follows Jimmy Olsen, the trusted Daily Planet reporter, as he dives into the murky waters of the case, investigating whether Grodd was wrongfully condemned in one of Metropolis’s most infamous murder trials.
