The world of cinema is buzzing with new casting announcements, as high-profile projects tied to the vision of director Michael Mann secure new faces for the screen.
In the sequel to the acclaimed film Heat, casting is heating up. Australian actress Odessa Young, known for her role in Mothering Sunday, has been confirmed to take on the role of Charlene Shiherlis. While negotiations are reportedly ongoing, sources suggest she is the clear choice for the part, following in the footsteps of Ashley Judd in the original film.
Adding another layer of intrigue to the casting pool is Maria Cid, who is the top contender for Gabi, the daughter of Neil McCauley’s girlfriend in the narrative. While other talents were rumored for these roles, the focus remains firmly on Young and Cid to bring depth to the story.
The ensemble for this ambitious project is already stacked with talent, including the established stars of Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham, and Jason Clarke.
Meanwhile, Mann’s vision for neon-drenched glamour continues with Universal Pictures’ adaptation of the iconic 1980s television series, Miami Vice ’85. This period piece, helmed by Joseph Kosinski, is set to explore the undeniable glamour and deep corruption of the Florida city at that era.
For this electrifying adaptation, the star-studded cast is bolstered by Danny Ramirez, who joins the ensemble alongside Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, who will lead the narrative. Filming for this epic will commence later this year, with a planned release date set for May 19th, 2028.
