Rankin focused particularly on the provocative opening sequence from Season 3, Episode 7, which involved Aemond experiencing hallucinations of his mother Alicent during an intimate encounter with Alys Rivers. She described the shoot as both “very intimate and very odd,” yet ultimately “very professional.” To navigate the discomfort inherent in such complex material, the cast employed humor on set, aiming to keep the demanding scenes lighthearted despite their technical complexity. Rankin suggested this secrecy stemmed from Daemon’s failure to fully open up to her.
