Speaking about the film’s thematic depth, Ullom explained that the goal was to explore how people cope when terror ceases to be an isolated event and becomes a permanent fixture of daily life. He noted that while it is easy to focus on the scares themselves, the true horror lies in living with the aftermath.

“This was always a movie that was more about how we live with horror than about the actual horror,” Ullom stated. “I wanted to see the family in films like Hereditary give that postgame interview and just be like, ‘Yeah, that was terrifying. That was absolutely terrifying.’ Then, they all die, obviously, but they go about their lives.”

Ullom continues, suggesting the film recontextualizes traumatic events to show the process of adaptation. The shifting focus—from the initial shock of finding a car to the subsequent normalization of strange occurrences—is designed to reflect our own experience navigating chaotic daily life.
