HBO has officially greenlit a second season of IT: Welcome to Derry, signaling that the chilling world of Derry and its terrifying folklore is set to expand once again. The decision arrives ten months after the first season premiered, promising a deeper dive into the town where unimaginable horror resides.

The new season is slated to rewind the clock to 1935, plunging viewers back into the stark, desperate atmosphere of the Great Depression. At the heart of the narrative will be the brutal story of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stumble into an ordeal that pushes the boundaries of mortal understanding. They seek ammo and end up facing a level of terror that few can imagine.

This expanded journey into Derry is being helmed by a familiar and formidable creative team. Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane previously co-showran the first season, and for the second installment, Brad Caleb Kane will assume the role of sole showrunner, steering the narrative into even darker waters.

The creative vision behind the expansion is clearly aimed at maximizing the dread. Sarah Aubrey, Head of HBO Max Original Programming, expressed great enthusiasm about the upcoming season. She stated that the team is excited to return to the chilling world of Derry and further expand on the adaptation by Andy and Barbara Muschietti.

Aubrey noted that working alongside Brad Caleb Kane, the team will break new ground by deepening the terror, the mystery, and the unforgettable Pennywise lore that fans are so eager to explore.

The production continues to be managed by HBO and Warner Bros. Television, working alongside executive producers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti through their Double Dream production company label. A strong cast of executive producers, including Brad Caleb Kane, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jamie Travis, and Dhana Gilbert, will oversee the development of the narrative.
