Jacksepticeye reveals Bloodborne film update
The legendary world of FromSoftware’s Bloodborne is finally taking a step toward the screen, and the news is ringing with renewed excitement. Sean ‘Jacksepticeye’ McLoughlin, the popular Irish YouTuber and philanthropist, has recently provided a major update on the R-rated animated film adaptation, confirming that the project is moving along much faster than anticipated.
This cinematic venture had first been announced in April during Sony’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. Bloodborne itself is not just a game; it is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games ever created, with remakes and ports consistently ranking high on enthusiast lists. Given the property’s enduring legacy, the anticipation for a film adaptation has been immense, especially as FromSoftware has not pursued a cinematic venture since the game’s release in 2015.
McLoughlin, who is involved as a producer on the film, spoke with outlets about the development status. When asked about the progress, he confirmed that the production pipeline is now significantly more robust than it was during the initial announcement. “There are people in place to make this thing happen,” he stated, reflecting the sheer scale of the work involved.
He added that while there is no pressure or expectation, which he finds distracting, the groundwork is solidifying. “We definitely have a lot more stuff mapped out where we’re going with the story,” McLoughlin noted. He expressed hope that the next announcements would focus on revealing the talented team involved and offering tantalizing glimpses of the narrative.
The story itself plunges viewers into the decaying, Gothic atmosphere of Yharnam, a Victorian-era city that is slowly succumbing to horror. The residents are afflicted by a devastating plague that transforms them into monstrous beasts. The narrative task falls to the player to unravel the city’s deep mysteries while engaging in brutal combat against both monstrous creatures and cosmic entities.
The game achieved massive success, selling over two million copies worldwide in its first year and earning a phenomenal 92/100 on Metacritic, cementing its status as a true masterpiece. Now, as the cinematic journey begins to unfold, the focus shifts to the production, promising an epic visual translation of one of gaming’s most haunting adventures.
