James Marsden Teases New MCU Costumes
The multiverse is colliding, and it looks like the costume department is ready for an explosion. In a tantalizing glimpse behind the curtain for Avengers: Doomsday, actor James Marsden has revealed that the returning heroes are getting a serious style upgrade, sporting comic-accurate gear as they prepare to face down the formidable Doctor Doom.
Marsden, who brought the stoic leader of the X-Men, Cyclops, to the screen during the flagship Fox trilogy, teased that his appearance in the upcoming film will be heavily inspired by his iconic look from X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97.
Reflecting on the sheer scope of bringing the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four together, Marsden described the film as an absolute collision of three gigantic universes, coming together in the face of a very serious existential threat. You’re seeing time on screen. You’re seeing these characters from 27 years ago, in new costumes with new intentions and intensities.
The stakes are undeniably high, promising a spectacular crossover alliance spanning multiple franchises and Earths, all focused on confronting Doctor Doom.
The roster assembled for this monumental event is a veritable feast of iconic talent. The mutant faction is stacked with legendary performers, including Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Kelsey Grammer as Beast. Even the formidable Gambit, played by Channing Tatum, joins this mystical gathering.
The Fantastic Four will also make a grand appearance from Earth-828, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn reprising their roles.
Leading the new Avengers team is a diverse and powerful lineup. The team includes Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Adding to the fray are Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman.
The delegation from Wakanda also features stellar casting, including Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, and Mabel Cadena. Rounding out the ensemble are Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, alongside the established giants Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.
Prepare for the spectacle. Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026.
