When a legendary horror franchise decides to take a leap back into the spotlight, it’s not just about ghosts and gore—it’s about reinvention. The “Friday the 13th” brand is currently navigating a fascinating revival, moving beyond classic scares to embrace new media and unexpected collaborations, positioning itself for a significant comeback.

Horror Inc., the owner of the intellectual property, is actively working behind the scenes to inject fresh energy into the legacy. This strategy involves a diverse portfolio of projects designed to engage both long-time devotees and a new generation of horror fans.

The slate of exciting developments includes the short film Sweet Revenge, aiming to capture the spirit of the franchise in a focused narrative format. Adding to this lineup is the upcoming Peacock TV series Crystal Lake,” which promises to dive deep into the mythology surrounding Jason Voorhees.

But the expansion doesn’t stop there. Horror Inc. has tapped into broader gaming culture by executing exciting crossovers, most notably partnering with Behaviour Interactive for a collaboration with Dead by Daylight. These ventures demonstrate an understanding that horror IP thrives when it bridges cinematic history with interactive entertainment.

This creative push is backed by powerful ambition. Robbie Barsamian, executive vice president at Horror Inc., emphasized the scope of their plans, stating there is much more on the horizon than just the immediate projects being released.

“We’ve been busy behind the scenes laying the foundation that everyone is finally starting to see come to life, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have a thrilling lineup of new projects that we can’t wait to share more details on soon.”

He further elaborated that the goal is to honor the franchise while inviting new audiences in, expressing a desire to ensure Jason remains an iconic figure for the next 45 years.

The franchise’s enduring power is reflected in its commercial success, having already grossed over $468 million at the global box office. As the groundwork for this renewed era is laid, anticipation is building for classic cinematic revivals as well. Fans can look forward to a re-release of the highly-rated film Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives” in cinemas later this year.

Crystal Lake is set to premiere on Peacock on October 15th, marking another milestone in Horror Inc.’s quest to redefine and rejuvenate one of horror’s most enduring icons.
