Jefferson White is back as Jimmy for Yellowstone spinoff
The legend of the American West continues to unfold, and this time, it brings a familiar face back to the ranch. Yellowstone fan-favorite character Jefferson White is set to return to the screen as the recurring character Jimmy in the upcoming second season of the series Marshals.
The excitement surrounding the return stems from White’s own enthusiasm. In a statement, he expressed his joy at diving back into the world of the show, noting that the cast and crew are “stacked full of my favorite actors and filmmakers,” and he felt honored to join them. He shared that he has shared a lot with Jimmy, and he is eager to see what the future holds for them.
Jimmy is portrayed as a complex figure—a good-hearted yet rough-around-the-edges ranch hand. His character embodies the journey of evolving from a troubled criminal into a resilient, proud cowboy, adding a layer of grit and history to the new narrative.
The series Marshals is anchored by Luke Grimes, who reprises his role as Kayce Dutton, joining a team of federal marshals working in Montana. The cast is further bolstered by familiar faces from the Yellowstone franchise, including Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, and Gil Birmingham, alongside newcomers like Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means.
This fresh cast introduces an engaging dynamic to the Montana setting, bringing a new energy to the procedural format. The series is scheduled to premiere on October 4.
While many look forward to the new season, the context of the spinoff origins is worth noting. There was earlier speculation about a separate 6666 spinoff centered on the infamous Texas ranch where Jimmy operated. However, franchise creator Taylor Sheridan has clarified that this particular concept was never going to materialize, as he prefers not to fictionalize active, real-life properties.
Even some viewers have offered mixed reactions to the series. Some critics felt that while Marshals has strong production values, it ultimately does not capture the profound legacy or virtuous redemption story that defined the original five seasons of Yellowstone. Despite this, the show is poised to be a hit for CBS, capitalizing on the enduring appeal of the Yellowstone brand.
