Actress Jennifer Lawrence has officially hung up her makeup brushes, announcing that she is done playing the iconic mutant Mystique from the X-Men franchise.

In a candid interview with Allure magazine, Lawrence made it clear that she is stepping away from the physically demanding and extreme character transformations that often come with costume work.

For the actress, the experience of portraying Mystique was defined less by the makeup and more by the action. She highlighted that her favorite aspect of the role was the physical stunts, noting the incredible work she did alongside her stunt double, Renee Moneymaker, during the Hunger Games franchise.

The transformation process, however, took a significantly different toll. When asked about revisiting heavy prosthetic work, Lawrence offered a powerful reflection on the mental and physical limits of such intense character immersion. She responded with a dose of wry honesty about the experience:

“Never say never, but absolutely f–king not. You know how air brushing is very cold? And I am ticklish. I learned how little sleep I can operate on and what can happen to the human mind when you’ve actually reached your breaking point. And patience!”

Lawrence recalled the sheer intensity of previous costume jobs, noting that for a role like X-Men: First Class, the process involved eight hours of application using all body paint and glue. She added that the multiple dye jobs required for the screen tests permanently damaged her hair, a fact she noted with a touch of self-awareness: “no one will understand what I went through.”

The decision marks a pivot for Lawrence, emphasizing that while she cherishes the memorable moments of her acting career, she is prioritizing her well-being over the extreme physical demands of costume creation.
