Jessica Lange teases secret character in AHS 13 return

Get ready for a dose of gothic glamour and high-stakes drama, because the legendary Jessica Lange is making a triumphant return to the world of television horror. She is set to grace the screen in the upcoming season of American Horror Story 13, and she’s bringing a dose of mystery along with her celebrated presence.

But this isn’t just a simple reunion. Lange has teased a surprising twist, hinting that her return will feature not only her four iconic, fan-favorite characters but also a completely secret fifth character. The actress kept the identity of this mystery character under wraps, challenging viewers to try and figure out who the surprise is.

When speaking with reporters, Lange explained that her decision to return was driven by the desire to bring back those beloved figures, alongside one final, tantalizing mystery. “It really was just the idea of bringing those four characters back — and one mystery character that I’m not going to spoil,” she shared, setting the stage for some delightful speculation.

Her confirmed roles for the season are a nod to some of the most memorable seasons in the franchise. Lange will be reprising her iconic roles as Constance Langdon from season one’s Murder House, Sister Jude Martin from season two’s Asylum, Fiona Goode from season three’s Coven, and Elsa Mars from season four’s Freak Show.

Beyond the nostalgic casting, the conversation took a turn into the realm of performance, as Lange discussed the creative process with creator Ryan Murphy. It turns out Murphy had a special musical treat planned for the returning star, adding an extra layer of excitement to her comeback.

Lange revealed that Murphy promised her a musical number for one of the characters, which led to some playful pleading from the actress. “He did promise a musical number for one of the characters,” she admitted, joking about having to “beg, borrow and plead to get anybody to let me sing.”

While she was eager to participate, Lange expressed particular enthusiasm for her role as Elsa again.
