Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge teaser
The magic of Christmas cheer is about to get a haunting makeover. Paramount Pictures recently dropped the teaser trailer for Ti West’s new cinematic venture, Ebenezer, a fresh and thrilling reimagining of Charles Dickens’ classic tale, A Christmas Carol.
The star of this ghostly journey is none other than Johnny Depp, who steps into the pivotal role of Ebenezer Scrooge. His promotional presence has been equally captivating; Depp brought the spirit of Scrooge to life at San Diego Comic Con, appearing in full costume and make-up, engaging fans at Paramount panels and a pop-up store dedicated to the miser’s very office.
The film promises more than just a holiday flick. It is described as a thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, charting one man’s supernatural odyssey as he confronts his past, present, and future, fighting desperately for a second chance at life.
The ensemble cast is equally stellar, bringing depth and wonder to the spectral narrative. Ian McKellen joins the crew as the formidable Jacob Marley, while Andrea Riseborough embodies the Ghost of Christmas Past, and Tramell Tillman steps in as the Ghost of Christmas Present. Daisy Ridley will bring the spirit of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come to the screen.
Rounding out the spectral family are Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflin as Fred, and Charlie Murphy and Ellie Bamber as the Fezziwigs, alongside Nicholas Day as a Minister and Arthur Conti as the young Ebenezer. This rich tapestry of performances promises an unforgettable experience.
The project is backed by strong creative forces, with Nathaniel Halpern penning the script and Emma Watts serving as producer. This marks a significant return for Depp, marking his first major studio lead since 2018.
Filming brought these characters to life across the historic locales of Dublin and London earlier this year. Fans can look forward to the full spectacle when Ebenezer is set to hit theaters on November 13th, 2026.
