Killer Rhiannon Lewis returns in Sweetpea Season 2

The dark and darkly comic world of Sweetpea is back, and this time, the killer is back in the spotlight. Ella Purnell returns as the complex and troubled serial killer Rhiannon Lewis in the highly anticipated second season of the series, promising even deeper dives into the psychological turmoil of its protagonist.

The series, based on the novel by C.J. Skuse, has cemented its place as a gripping tale of an overlooked young woman pushed to the breaking point, discovering an unexpected and dangerous capacity for violence. Now, as the story continues, Rhiannon must not only manage her escalating kill list but also grapple with the devastating question raised by her ex-boyfriend, AJ: Is she truly a monster?

Season 2 picks up immediately following the deadly events of the first season finale. Rhiannon is thrust back into the mundane, attempting to navigate a promotion at the local newspaper. However, this attempt at normalcy is immediately complicated by the arrival of a copycat killer who threatens to expose her, pushing her further into the shadows of her own dangerous reality.

The narrative unfolds as Rhiannon tries to move forward while wrestling with the internal and external pressures threatening to dismantle her fragile sense of self. It is a compelling exploration of suppressed trauma, social neglect, and the terrifying consequences of unchecked power.

The ensemble cast remains compelling, with Ella Purnell anchoring the drama alongside new additions. Rish Shah joins the cast as Gabriel, Rhiannon’s romantic interest, while Tamsin Greig plays Liv, AJ’s mother, and Taj Atwal brings the formidable presence of Freya, Rhiannon’s new boss at the Carnsham Gazette. Jenny Walser also steps in as Daisy, a new friend in Rhiannon’s tumultuous journey.

Returning talents like Jon Pointing, Jeremy Swift, Leah Harvey, Ingrid Oliver, Nitin Ganatra, and Alexandra Dowling bring their unique gravitas back to the story, enriching the world of Sweetpea with familiar and formidable faces.

The production team, including See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios, continues to craft this gripping narrative. The creative team, including director Ella Jones, has overseen the first season, and Selina Lim takes the lead writing role for Season 2, ensuring the story maintains its sharp, uncomfortable edge.

Fans can look forward to the continuation of this unique series, which will arrive on Sky in the UK in November 2026, followed by a Starz debut in the United States in early 2027. It is a story that demands attention, forcing viewers to confront the uncomfortable truths lurking beneath the surface of everyday life.
