The casting call for the next chapter of the X-Men saga is heating up, and one name is sitting squarely at the center of the buzz: Kit Connor.

Reports indicate that the actor, known for his roles in Heartstopper and Warfare, is currently in discussions to bring his talent to the screen as Cyclops in Jake Schreier’s upcoming film for Marvel Studios.

The journey to this role has seen some interesting maneuvering. While there were previous rumors pointing toward other talented actors, including Cooper Hoffman, who was suggested as a top contender, the studio reportedly settled on Connor following extensive meetings with various candidates.

This casting places Connor firmly within the expanding universe of Marvel, marking his third appearance in an X-Men role within the MCU, following roles like Emma Frost and a spoiler capacity in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day film.

The excitement surrounding this potential casting is only one part of the ongoing production story. The cinematic universe promises a rich tapestry of characters, with established actors bringing depth to the franchise. James Marsden and Tye Sheridan have previously portrayed Cyclops in earlier films, and Marsden will also be reprising the role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Behind the scenes, the team is already moving forward with development. To ensure a fresh vision for the narrative, Sonny Lee Sung Jin, known for his work in “Beef,” and Joanna Calo, who starred in “The Bear,” have joined the project to contribute to a new draft of Michael Lesslie’s script.

Filming on the new X-Men film is slated to begin sometime next year, though pre-production work could potentially commence before the year ends. As the gears of production turn, anticipation builds for what this new cinematic installment will bring to the world of mutant heroes.
