Knight Star as Beast in new X-Men
The casting news from Marvel Studios is buzzing, and the unexpected revelation is that an actor known for his commanding presence in fantasy fiction is set to bring a beloved character to the screen. Peter Claffey, the acclaimed star of HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is rumored to be taking on the role of Hank McCoy, the iconic Beast, in the upcoming X-Men film.
This exciting development follows earlier speculation that Claffey was in contention for the part. The buzz intensified when industry insiders, including Scooper Jeff Sneider, first floated the possibility of Claffey playing the mutant in April.
The search for the perfect Beast was clearly competitive. There was another name heavily linked to the role, Charles Melton, who reportedly dropped out of consideration after committing to a different major project, aiming for the role of Kakashi Hatake in the live-action adaptation of Naruto.
Despite the competitive landscape, Claffey has reportedly landed the role, promising fans a furry, intelligent, and perhaps slightly wild addition to the mutant team.
The production of the new X-Men film is gearing up for a major start, with filming expected to commence in the United Kingdom in early 2027.
The ensemble cast for the mutant saga is already shaping up to be stellar. The lineup features established talents such as Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. The team will also be joined by Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Asa Germann as Angel, and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Adding an electrifying layer to the narrative, Adam Driver is slated to play the main villain, Mister Sinister. This ambitious cinematic event is scheduled to open in cinemas on May 5th, 2028.
