Ladybug and Cat Noir Live Action Set
The world of animated magic is about to step into the real world, promising a thrilling evolution for one of its most beloved franchises. Producers of critically acclaimed series like Slow Horses and Heartstopper, See-Saw Films, are joining forces with Miraculous Corp to bring Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir to the screen in a live-action television series.
This ambitious project is poised to capture a wider demographic, aiming to reach a broader and older audience while still deeply engaging the dedicated fanbase that has followed Ladybug and Cat Noir for years.
At the heart of the original story lies a tender exploration of identity and the complexities of feeling. The animated series follows Marinette, a character defined by her kindness and hardworking nature, who struggles with the pressure to be perfect to earn love. Alongside her is Adrien, charming and effortlessly popular, who often navigates life without fully choosing his own path. The dynamic between them is electric, a subtle, undeniable chemistry that defines their everyday interactions.
When the curtain rises on the live-action adaptation, this emotional foundation is set to be deepened. As executive producer Maria Nicholson notes, the shift to live action offers a unique opportunity to explore the emotional distance between who we are and who we let the world see. “Live action gives us the space to really feel that — to let it breathe, to let it hurt,” Nicholson explains. “At See-Saw, we’re aiming to build something with the emotional intimacy of a great romance and the scale of a genuinely epic superhero story. I think audiences are going to fall in love with these characters all over again.”
The creative team behind the series includes Emme Hoy, who will serve as writer and co-executive producer, alongside other key executives. The source material itself has proven to be a global phenomenon, having established itself as a massive digital powerhouse. The cartoon has amassed 54 million YouTube subscribers, over 55 billion lifetime views, and an average of 900 million monthly views, demonstrating its incredible global reach across consumer products, gaming, and live experiences.
The franchise’s momentum is only growing. The animated continuation is currently in its sixth season, with a seventh installment slated for release later this year. Beyond the television adaptation, the Miraculous universe is set to expand into new realms, with a live stage show planned to launch worldwide in 2027, cementing the character’s place in global entertainment.
