Linda Cardellini teases Camp Crystal Lake at Comic Con
Crystal Lake is gearing up to bring the haunting legends of Camp Crystal Lake to the forefront, offering fans a deep dive into the mythology surrounding Pamela Voorhees and Jason Voorhees. With Peacock’s long-awaited prequel series premiering later this year, anticipation is building, and the celebration is kicking off with a special experience for fans at New York Comic Con.
To celebrate the upcoming release, the streamer and A24 are setting up a special Camp Crystal Lake experience at New York Comic Con. Attendees will have the chance to step directly into the 1970s setting of the camp, complete with in-world thrills, photo opportunities, and exclusive giveaways. This free interactive experience will be available at Booth 1359 at the Javits Center from October 8 through October 11.
Beyond the convention experience, star Linda Cardellini has already offered fans a tantalizing glimpse into the world of the series. The actress, who plays the iconic Pamela Voorhees, shared a sneak peek of the opening scene on Instagram, providing a taste of the story that unfolds years before the events of the original Friday the 13th.
The new series is more than just a retelling; it’s an expansion of the lore. Peacock’s official trailer emphasizes that Crystal Lake is a prequel designed to explore the expanded mythology surrounding Pamela, Jason, and the town of Crystal Lake, setting the story in the early 1970s. Creator Brad Caleb Kane promises that the explanations for Jason’s origins are grounded in reality, adding depth to the already legendary franchise.
The cast and creative team are stacked with talent. Linda Cardellini embodies Pamela Voorhees, while Callum Vinson portrays young Jason. The series also features a talented ensemble including William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. The show is helmed by creator Brad Caleb Kane, who previously worked on It: Welcome to Derry, and the eight-episode first season is directed by Michael Lennox, Celine Held, Logan George, and Quyen Tran. The production also features original music from Harry Manfredini, and the story is rooted in the actual location of the original films, returning to Blairstown, New Jersey.
Fans eager to see the full story can look forward to the premiere of all eight episodes of Crystal Lake season 1 on Peacock on October 15, 2026. With the interactive experience at Comic Con, Cardellini’s intriguing sneak peek, and positive early reviews, the foundation for this expanded prequel to the horror icon is already set. It’s time to step into Camp Crystal Lake and explore the haunting history of the Voorhees family.
