Mandalorian Disney+ Special Trailer with Returning Star Wars Cast

Get ready to ignite your imagination, because a brand-new animated special has just dropped its official trailer, promising a lighthearted and hilarious take on one of the galaxy’s most beloved stories: LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Disney+ released the exciting footage on Friday, setting the stage for a special screening at D23. This animated project promises to revisit all three seasons of The Mandalorian through a fresh, comedic lens, bringing back fan-favorite characters and beloved voice talent from the original live-action series.

The trailer establishes a charming premise: “The evil Empire has fallen, and imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (voiced by Gavin Hammon) and his young apprentice Grogu.”

Beyond the premise, the trailer delivered a delightful spin on the action. High-ranking Bounty Hunters’ Guild magistrate Greef Karga (voiced by Carl Lumbly) narrates the journey across the galaxy, highlighting pivotal moments from Mando’s initial encounter with Grogu and encounters with Imperial remnants. The humor shines through as the footage playfully features IG-11’s recurring attempts at self-destruction turning into a running joke.

The LEGO spin doesn’t stop there. We also see a humorous interaction where a LEGO version of Luke Skywalker offers Jedi training, attempting to convince Mando that he is “kind of a big deal.”

The voice cast is stacked with recognizable talent, including Gavin Hammon as The Mandalorian and David Acord as Grogu. The lineup also features established stars like Amy Sedaris, Bill Burr, Katee Sackhoff, Giancarlo Esposito, and Rosario Dawson returning in their familiar roles. Further lending depth to the project are returning voices such as Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, Timothy Olyphant, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.

The creative direction is handled by director Chris Buckley, with Michael Price penning the script for this new animated adventure. Fans can expect a visual experience filled with comedic charm and nostalgic familiarity.

Mark your calendars: LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres exclusively on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
