Hollywood director Michael Mann recently experienced an unexpected, albeit slightly dramatic, detour during a routine afternoon at a Los Angeles gun range. The esteemed filmmaker was reportedly hospitalized yesterday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg during target practice.

The incident occurred while Mann, an experienced target shooter, was attempting to holster his weapon. The accidental discharge happened when the firearm went off while he was engaged in practice at a sanctioned range.

While the situation required an emergency response, the news quickly settled into a surprisingly lighthearted frame. Mann was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where doctors assessed the situation.

Fortunately, the injury was reportedly “subcutaneous and minor.” His representatives later confirmed the details, stating that the discharge resulted in a superficial injury that required treatment but thankfully no serious intervention.

The official statement released by Mann’s representatives confirmed that he was treated and subsequently released, emphasizing that the event was an accidental discharge while the weapon was holstered.

Despite the unexpected mishap, there are no indications that this incident will disrupt the director’s highly anticipated schedule. Mann remains focused on his professional commitments, particularly the pre-production phase for his next major project, Heat 2, which is set to begin filming shortly.

The upcoming production is already attracting massive attention, bolstered by an incredible cast of talent, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Stephen Graham, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jason Clarke, and Odessa Young.
