Mason Thames as Nightwing in Dynamic Duo
The world of animation is buzzing with exciting news as the upcoming “Dynamic Duo” film is set to bring a familiar, yet thrilling, new chapter to the DC universe. The casting announcement has just revealed that Mason Thames, known for his roles in “The Black Phone” and “How to Train Your Dragon,” is stepping into the iconic role of Dick Grayson/Nightwing.
This ambitious project aims to explore the formative years of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, establishing them as the dynamic duo who navigate the treacherous world of orphan thieves. Fans can expect a dynamic and emotionally charged story as these young vigilantes begin their journey.
The visual style of the film promises something unique. The project is being handled by the New Orleans-based animation studio Swaybox, which will utilize a distinct animation technique dubbed “Momo Animation.” This approach is a clever blend of CGI animation, practical elements from stop-motion, and live-action real-time performance, promising a rich and tactile visual experience.
The ensemble cast is shaping up to be a powerhouse of talent. Beyond Thames, exciting roles have been filled by actors who bring depth and gravitas to the rogues’ gallery. Logan Kim, the actor celebrated for his work in “The Walking Dead: Dead City” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” will bring the intensity of Jason Todd to the screen. Completing the dynamic duo, actress Marsai Martin, known for her work in “Little” and “black-ish,” is slated to portray Barbara Gordon.
The threat level is equally high, with major villains taking center stage. Lee Pace is set to lead the antagonists, playing the formidable leader of the Red Hood gang, who will undoubtedly provide some unforgettable conflict for the heroes.
Meanwhile, the fate of the city’s protector is on the table, with reports indicating that Chris Pine is currently in discussions for the role of Batman.
Guiding this epic narrative will be director Arthur Mintz, whose vision will shape the unfolding story. Mark your calendars, as this animated adventure is slated to open in cinemas on June 30th, 2028.
