Meghan and Harry’s move: Leaving Hollywood
The glamour of Hollywood is taking a backseat as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce their intention to trade the bright lights of Los Angeles for the rolling hills of the United Kingdom. The royal couple has revealed their plans to relocate, bringing their family with them, marking a significant pivot in their life story and business ventures.
Following their departure from royal duties in 2020 and their subsequent settlement in California, the Sussexes are now looking toward a fresh chapter. While they plan to settle in the UK, the couple intends to maintain their Montecito residence, ensuring a blend of new life and familiar comfort.
This transition is intrinsically linked to recent shifts in their professional arrangements. The move comes amidst a restructuring of their partnership with Netflix, which involved a change in their deal with their production company, Archewell Productions, shifting from an overall pact to a first-look arrangement.
The relationship with the streaming giant also saw adjustments; Netflix pulled its investment from Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, and canceled her cooking show. Despite these changes, however, the platform’s leadership has indicated that the creative relationship remains strong. Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria stated that there are still movies and documentaries in development with the couple, emphasizing that deal changes are a routine occurrence across the entertainment industry.
Excitingly, several projects continue to thrive under their initial agreement. For instance, upcoming titles include a polo-themed scripted drama and the adaptation of a novel, which promises continued creative output.
The creative momentum is also visible in their recent work, exemplified by the theatrical debut of the documentary Cookie Queens, which opened to $328K across 446 screens. This success demonstrates that their creative vision continues to find an audience, regardless of geographical location.
