New US Trailer Hen chases a bird on the run
Picture a flock of poultry, yearning for freedom, navigating the ancient landscapes of Greece, and inadvertently becoming the unwitting witnesses to some of humanity’s most dramatic stories. This is the delightful, slightly absurd premise of Hen, a film that manages to blend whimsical animal adventure with the intense realities of the modern world.
Dekanalog has recently unveiled an official US trailer, offering a peek into this kooky, heartwarming tale. It’s a story about a single Leghorn chicken who makes a daring escape from an industrial farm, embarking on a wild journey that eventually leads her to a precarious new home in a small family-owned restaurant nestled in Greece.
But this is no ordinary chicken odyssey. As our protagonist navigates the rustic pecking order of the seaside establishment, she finds herself caught up in a web of human greed, smuggling operations, and the complex shadows of the migrant crisis. The environment itself—the sun-drenched beauty of Greece—serves as a breathtaking backdrop for these deeply human struggles.
The film is visually rich, shot entirely in Greece, giving the narrative a genuine, sun-drenched atmosphere. The cast of avian stars includes eight Hungarian chickens, each bringing their unique personality to the story: Eszti, Szandi, Feri, Enci, Eti, Eniko, Nora, and Anett. These adorable characters are the true heart of the film, as they fight to protect their eggs and survive the shifting currents of human drama.
It’s a cinematic experience that manages to find a unique resonance, drawing comparisons to the visual poetry of films like Eo and Au Hasard Balthazar, proving that even the most unexpected narratives can explore profound themes of fate and freedom.
If you enjoy stories that blend the unexpected with the poignant—a journey of survival, identity, and unexpected connections—Hen offers a truly delightful watch. Prepare to be charmed by this feathered fugitive as she navigates the complexities of life on the road and discovers the strange, compelling world unfolding around her. The movie will be available in limited US theaters starting in November.
