NYC Club Kid Action with Jordan Firstman & Reggie Absolom
The magic of a great story often lies in the unexpected collisions of life, and A24’s latest offering, Club Kid, is a perfect example of finding wonder in the most ordinary city backdrop. Directed by filmmaker Jordan Firstman, the film delivers a delightful journey that perfectly captures the whirlwind of a life suddenly upended by the arrival of a ten-year-old son.
This feature directorial debut marks a significant moment for Firstman, who has channeled the high-energy atmosphere of New York City into a deeply personal and engaging narrative. The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, has quickly earned critical acclaim, proving that sometimes the greatest discoveries happen when you least expect them.
Club Kid follows a hard-partying New York City club promoter whose carefully managed, high-octane lifestyle hits an unexpected pause with the arrival of his son. It is a story that beautifully balances the frenetic energy of the city with the tender, chaotic reality of fatherhood, making it a film that resonates with universal truths.
The film features a stellar cast, including Jordan Firstman and Reggie Absolom as the boys, alongside supporting performances from Diego Calva, Cara Delevingne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Colleen Camp.
To bring the vibrant world of Club Kid to life, A24 has released a unique promotional featurette. This video is not a stale piece of marketing; it’s a fun, spontaneous walk-and-talk featurette that pulls the audience directly into the world of the film. It showcases Jordan Firstman and Reggie Absolom strolling through the very streets of NYC, revisiting locations where many of the film’s memorable scenes took place, chatting about everything and nothing along the way.
The featurette serves as a perfect invitation, allowing viewers to experience the easy camaraderie and genuine connection that forms the heart of the story. It’s a genuinely fun way to promote a cinematic experience, reminding us that the best adventures often happen when you simply slow down and enjoy the journey.
