The change stemmed largely from exposure to his promotion of misogynistic and incel beliefs.

Wilde pointed out that Musk’s views often revolved around the idea that men possess an inherent power over women and their choices, a perspective she found jarring, especially when juxtaposed with other of his public statements. This critique extended to his commentary on global demographic issues.

Just a few years prior, Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the declining birth rate, framing it as a severe crisis. He wrote that he was “Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far.” This perspective further fueled Wilde’s growing sense of disillusionment regarding his intellectual trajectory.

The contrast between the charitable acts she witnessed early on and the controversial ideology she observes now highlights the profound shift in her opinion of Musk.
