Prisoners and Insomnia become UK TV series
The cinematic world is buzzing with news from Alcon Media Group, as its new Alcon International Studios division prepares to launch an ambitious new chapter: transforming iconic films into compelling television series.
This exciting initiative signals a major push toward building a dynamic global television platform. Alcon International Studios is setting its sights on five diverse cinematic projects, planning to adapt them into engaging UK television series. The lineup includes high-stakes thrillers and beloved classics, promising a rich mix of dramatic storytelling.
The slate of potential series is quite diverse, ranging from Christopher Nolan’s remake of Insomnia and Denis Villeneuve’s dark drama Prisoners, to the epic scope of The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington. Rounding out this selection are the charming rom-com Something Borrowed, and the emotionally resonant P.S. I Love You, featuring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler.
This strategic move is part of a broader vision for creative partnership. Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, expressed enthusiasm about what the new division represents. They believe this effort allows Alcon to build on its legacy by partnering with exceptional creators across the UK and Europe to deliver distinctive stories to a worldwide audience.
The studio’s involvement extends far beyond these proposed adaptations. Alcon is actively engaged in international co-financing packages, notably for the previously announced TV reboot of Kathryn Bigelow’s Point Break, in collaboration with Studiocanal and AMC.
Alcon’s creative footprint is already vast, encompassing other acclaimed projects such as The Social Reckoning, The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, and The Blind Side. Furthermore, the group is a key player in acclaimed genre television, having produced Syfy & Amazon’s popular sci-fi series The Expanse.
Anticipation is only growing, with the studio also gearing up for the launch of the upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series, which is set to debut next month. Alcon International Studios is clearly ready to usher in a new era of television, blending cinematic quality with global reach.
