The producer, Brendan Hunt, stepped in to clear the air regarding the change. He revealed that Jamie Tartt, a beloved fixture of the team, had pursued new opportunities outside of Richmond. Tartt left to play for FC Barcelona, an exit that was reflected in the Season 4 premiere through newspaper headlines.

Hunt explained the practical realities behind this decision: while Phil would have been busy, it would have strained the narrative if the entire original team remained together when such opportunities were available. He noted that successful football clubs naturally see their best players invited to larger European clubs, meaning those stars would inevitably be sought out by bigger teams.

This shift creates fascinating room for new storylines. With Jamie Tartt gone, the focus can now lean into other compelling dynamics within the show. Hunt pointed out the remarkable, simmering chemistry between Keeley and Roy Kent, suggesting that their relationship—whether romantic or otherwise—is primed to explore deeper waters now that the focus is shifting.
