Africa Review: Attenborough's Continent

9/10 — Africa (2013)
Pros
- Beautiful photography
- Fresh animal behaviour
- Attenborough's narration
Cons
- Some familiar stories
David Attenborough narrates a series covering Africa’s habitats, from the Sahara and the savannah to the Congo and the Cape. It took more than three years to film.
What works
The photography is superb, and the series finds fresh stories across deserts, rainforests and savannah. The score is rousing, and the series doesn’t shy away from conservation.
Where it falters
It’s less groundbreaking than some of the BBC’s other series, and some stories are familiar.
Verdict
A stunning, well-made natural history series.
