Sam Worthington and Sofia Carson star in new Mr & Mrs Smith show
When espionage meets intense romance, the resulting thriller is bound to be a smash hit. Sam Worthington and Sofia Carson are set to bring the high-stakes drama of Robert Ludlum’s spy fiction novel, The Parsifal Mosaic, to the screen via a new Hulu series. Not only are the leads diving into the dangerous world of global espionage, but they are also taking on executive producer roles, ensuring they are deeply invested in shaping the narrative.
The series promises a compelling blend of globe-trotting action and a deeply complicated personal relationship, echoing the dynamic tension found in films like Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The story centers on CIA operative Michael Havelock, portrayed by Worthington, whose world is thrown into chaos when he discovers that his partner, Jenna Karas, is not only the love of his life but also entangled in a massive, dangerous conspiracy.
The logline perfectly captures the emotional core of the series: “After years of dangerous fieldwork for the CIA, Michael Havelock (Worthington) is ready to get out of the game when he learns that his partner Jenna Karas (Carson), secretly the love of his life, has betrayed him and begins unraveling a powerful conspiracy that reaches around the globe.”
The journey to the Hulu screen was anything but smooth. The project faced a long road from initial film adaptations to its current television form. Early attempts to bring the story to the big screen, including a film version with Ron Howard attached, saw development stall before eventually moving to the series format.
Now, the focus shifts to the unfolding television series. Director Seth Gordon is steering the narrative, with Wes Tooke serving as writer and executive producer. This evolution allows the story to expand, focusing equally on the thrilling demands of espionage and the emotional toll of betrayal and discovery.
The original novel, published in 1982, details Havelock’s descent as he uncovers the truth about Jenna, a fellow operative he loves. The narrative follows him as he learns that his personal life is inextricably linked to a far larger, international espionage conspiracy.
Hulu is set to premiere The Parsifal Mosaic, promising viewers a sophisticated blend of action, intrigue, and heart. While the exact premiere date remains under wraps, fans can anticipate an engrossing spy thriller that perfectly balances global threats with the complexities of love and betrayal.
